Main features
- Broadband 1-10 GHz EMI Absorption
- Configurable Thickness & Adhesive Options
- Die-Cuttable Sheet Format
Product Description
3M™ EMI Absorber AB3000 Series is a magnetic EMI absorber sheet for near-field applications from 1 GHz to 10 GHz. The series combines a carrier resin and magnetic fillers with optional acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and is available in 0.100, 0.300 and 0.500 mm magnetic-layer thicknesses. AB3000 is supplied in 340 x 340 mm sheets on a removable liner for handling and die-cutting. 3M positions the series for broadband EMI absorption, while its frequency-dependent permeability, material thickness, XY area, location and orientation are key variables to evaluate in the end-use assembly.

| Release liner | Removable liner | - | Supplied for handling and die-cutting. |
Evaluation and application setup
AB3000 effectiveness depends on frequency, material thickness, XY area, placement and orientation relative to the electromagnetic field. Establish a baseline in the intended assembly before reducing absorber thickness, shape or coverage.
Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when AB3000 Series is kept in its original packaging below 25 deg C (77 deg F) and below 60% relative humidity.
Typical technical performance
| Property | Value | Unit | Method / condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrical resistivity | 2 x 10^4 | ohm m | Typical; ASTM D257 type test method. |
| Typical permeability at 1 MHz | 30 | - | Typical; results can vary with test method and/or equipment. |
| Temperature range | -25 to 90 | deg C | Typical; based on general environmental performance of the polymer binder resin type. Verify in the end-use configuration. |
| EMI absorber performance range | 1 to 10 | GHz | Near-field application range published for the AB3000 Series. |
| Target range for peak performance | 3 to 7 | GHz | Current 3M product positioning; end-use response remains application-dependent. |
| Targeted permeability range for EM-field coupling | 300 kHz to 15 MHz | - | Published targeted permeability range; frequency-dependent behavior should be evaluated in the intended application. |
AB3000 Series variants
The AB3000 Series uses three magnetic-layer thicknesses, each available in adhesive-backed and -WO configurations.
| Variant | Magnetic layer thickness | Adhesive configuration | Selection note |
|---|---|---|---|
| AB3010 | 0.100 mm | Acrylic non-conductive adhesive | Thinnest adhesive-backed option. |
| AB3030 | 0.300 mm | Acrylic non-conductive adhesive | Mid-thickness adhesive-backed option. |
| AB3050 | 0.500 mm | Acrylic non-conductive adhesive | Thickest adhesive-backed option. |
| AB3010-WO | 0.100 mm | Without adhesive | Thinnest -WO option. |
| AB3030-WO | 0.300 mm | Without adhesive | Mid-thickness -WO option. |
| AB3050-WO | 0.500 mm | Without adhesive | Thickest -WO option. |
Magnetic-layer thickness excludes protective film and carries a stated +/-10% tolerance. -WO means without adhesive. Published technical data are representative or typical and are not product specifications.
Performance evidence
AB3000 performance data are frequency- and configuration-dependent. The supplier test methods below provide context for evaluating permeability, power loss and transmission attenuation without converting typical graph results into guaranteed specifications.
Application areas
